| Sembalance is an
ongoing instrumental music project, mostly centred around Hardware
Sequenced passages, with various amounts of live input, now involving
close collaboration between Bene on the synth/seqencing/recording
side, and Ed with the inspirational guitar work.
In the beginning a rare surplus in the bank balance
failed to make it into the pension scheme and, quite rightly, was
squandered on synthesisers. The following years with bene saw an
involvement in a small assortment of synth and indie rock bands,
(Headzoo, Crush, P.pig) but behind it all, sembalance was always
lurking ...
Sembalance tracks are initially put together by
Bene, with Ed adding guitar to the soundscape (guilty of previous
with Purple Algae, Harlem, In Brief and Jules Jubless...). Other
musicians have contributed in the past, namely Steve and Manton
on guitar and Mac on percussion and vocals.
Moods and ideas are sporadically transformed
into music, sometimes in the form of long ambient voyages, at other
times in what has been described as "keyboard driven space
rock" or more recently as "trans-ambient rock" ...
call it what you will, every piece evolves into the final product,
following its own path, with no preconceived influence.
And for those who haven't already moved on to
the interesting stuff, here's a list of our gear .....
